Kleoniki Keklikoglou
Scientific Responsible

Ms Kleoniki Keklikoglou is a PhD student with an MSc in Environmental Biology and Management of Terrestrial and Marine Biological Resources. Her main research interests include marine biodiversity (especially benthic invertebrates), ecology, Micro-Computed tomography (micro-CT), ocean acidification and coastal light pollution. She has 23 publications and participated in more than 20 conferences.

Christos Arvanitidis
Researcher

Research Director, CEO of LIFEWatch ERIC and head of the IMBBC Biodiversity laboratory. Involved in 65 research and education projects, coordinated 8. Research Funding ID: >7 M€. More than 100 peer-reviewed scientific articles, including two monographs. Associate Editor in Frontiers in Marine Science, Biodiversity Data Journal and Handling Editor in Mediterranean Marine Science;

Antonios Magoulas
HCMR Director and President of the Board of Directors

Director of Research at the Institute of Marine Biology, Biotechnology and Aquaculture (IMBBC) of HCMR. Former Director of IMBBC (2013 - 2018) and vice president of the Board of Directors of HCMR (2015-2018), former Director of the Institute of Marine Biology and Genetics (2005 -2012), for the founding of which I have played a pivotal role. Member of the Regional Council for Research and Innovation of Crete (RCRI-C) (since Jan 2017). Participation in more than 60 RTD projects, in half of which was Scientific Responsible of Coordinator. Scientific Responsible of the European (FP7, Capacities, REGPOT) emerging excellence project “Supporting research potential for marine biodiversity and genomics in the Eastern Mediterranean” (MARBIGEN), funded 3 M€. Coordinator of the “Centre for the Study and Sustainable Exploitation of Marine Biological Resources” (CMBR), which is the Greek node of EMBRC-ERIC and part of the Greek national roadmap for Research Infrastructures, funded 4 M€. H index = 32 (Scopus) - 38 (Google Scholar). More than 90 publications in international peer-reviewed journals, more than 2700 (Scopus) - 4300 (Google Scholar) citations.

 

 

Eva Chatzinikolaou
Research fellow

Dr Eva Chatzinikolaou is a research fellow in the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research - Institute of Marine Biology, Biotechnology and Aquaculture. Her research focus on climate change, ocean acidification, micro-CT tomography, marine biodiversity and intertidal ecology. During her PhD she studied population dynamics, ageing, reproduction, development and marine pollution in gastropods. She is currently investigating the effects of climate change and ocean acidification on marine gastropods using experimental treatments and micro-CT tomography, after a postdoc funding award (ELIDEK, HFRI; 2018-2021). Her research has been also funded by Latsis Foundation (2014) and ASSEMBLE Programme (2012, 2013). Published 51 scientific articles and book chapters; participated in many conferences. Guest editor in BDJ and in Frontiers and JMSE Special Issues; reviewer in 20 journals; expert evaluator in EU proposals. Has wide experience on the management and implementation of international and national projects (leader in 7, participant in 16). She is the scientific coordinator of the ERFI RI LifewatchGreece and the National representative in LifeWatch ERIC. Has also participated in environmental education and citizen science awareness actions and has supervised several MSc and BSc students.

Pantelis Katharios
Researcher

Is a Researcher at the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR) since 2007. He has completed my doctoral training at the Department of Biology of the University of Patras. His thesis work focused on the toxicity and pharmacokinetics of Cephalexin and Ivermectin in gilthead sea bream, Sparus aurata. Following the completion of my Ph.D., He has worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the Institute of Aquaculture of HCMR from 2004-2007 where I studied various fish diseases affecting cultured marine species.

Irene Filiopoulou
WEB DEVELOPER​​

is a mobile developer at the Hellenic Center for Marine Research (HCMR). She received her BSc and MSc degree in the fields of Information Systems and E-commerce Technologies in Computer Science Department from the University of Crete. She has worked in the Multimedia Laboratory and in the Transformation Service Laboratory at the University Of Crete as a mobile developer .

Emmanouela Panteri
WEB DEVELOPER​​

Emmanouela Panteri is a Web Developer at the Hellenic Center for Marine Research (HCMR). She has a BSc degree in Computer Science, specialized in Database Development, Data Integration and Web-Based Applications. Currently involved in the development and implementation of citizen science projects, that aims at engaging citizen scientists in a coastal marine biodiversity observation network.

Dimitra Mavraki
Data Manager

Ms Dimitra Mavraki is an Environmental Scientist with post-graduate studies on Hydrology and Environmental Management of Water Resources. She works as Data Manager at the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research. She is specialised in marine data collection and digitization, quality control and standardization of both new and historical data, FAIR Principles to marine (meta)data, open access E-infrastructures and Repositories. She has 11 relevant publications and in 2019 she was a Grant winner as an expert European Researcher & Scientist working with data to attend the 14th Research Data Alliance Plenary meeting, in Helsinki, under the theme Data Makes the Difference”.

Katerina Vasileiadou
Research fellow

Dr Katerina Vasileiadou holds PhD on Marine Ecology and population genetics. Her interests focus on ecology, local adaptation and population genetics of marine invertebrates. She has 21 publications, co-edited in 4 special issues and has participated in 26 conferences. 

Christina Pavloudi
Research fellow

Dr Christina Pavloudi holds a PhD in Marine Sciences. Her research interests include Microbial Ecology, Marine Biology and Ecology, Marine Biodiversity, Functional Diversity and Bioinformatics. She has published 28 peer-reviewed scientific articles and participated in international conferences and workshops.

Nikitas Michalakis
Full-stack Web Developer

Michalakis Nikitas is a Fullstack Web Developer. He has a BSc degree in Computer Science, specialized in Drupal, Data Integration and Web-Based Applications. Currently involved in the development and implementation of various commercial or API driven projects, that aims to make the world a better place. These days i using my time to bring visually aesthetic, responsive, and accessible websites build with Drupal.
